SEA POINT CID AND LAW ENFORCEMENT ACT QUICKLY TO PROTECT PUPPY: Earlier today, Sea Point CID Chairperson Jacques Weber was alerted to reports of an individual entering the Sea Point area from Victoria Road, Bantry Bay, carrying a puppy. A short while later, further information was received that the individual had allegedly attempted to sell the puppy to a member of the public for R300. The matter was immediately escalated, as the sale of animals in this manner is prohibited under the applicable legislation. Under the direction of Security Manager Barnard Joubert, the Sea Point City Improvement District's Law Enforcement and security teams responded immediately, locating and stopping the individual within minutes. The suspect, together with the puppy, was taken to Sea Point Law Enforcement offices. The complainant provided a formal statement confirming that the individual had attempted to sell her the puppy. Based on the evidence obtained, the suspect was issued with a fine in terms of the applicable legislation. To ensure its safety and welfare, the puppy was taken into the care of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA , where it will receive the appropriate care and attention. "Let this serve as a warning to anyone entering the Sea Point area to illegally sell puppies. We will continue to act swiftly and decisively to protect both animals and members of the public," said Heather Tager, Chief Executive Officer of the Sea Point City Improvement District. Tager also expressed her appreciation to Law Enforcement officers and the Sea Point CID security team for their rapid response and professionalism in bringing the incident to a successful conclusion.
